Abstract

The research examines the behavior of the characters in the novel under study, and their positive and negative roles in the narrative. It begins with the main character, Tawfiq, whose behavior is negative. The character of Pietro, the Argentinian tourist, also exhibits both positive and negative behavior. The character of Julius, the Bolivian musician, behaves positively. Finally, the character of Samih Awad, who appears at the end of the narrative, behaves positively, as he resisted colonialism in Palestine, eventually becoming one of the top targets of Mossad. Thus, the research traces the characters' behavior within the novel's discourse and extracts its artistic significance to determine their positive and negative actions.
