This study examines the religious transformation in Ancient Egypt during the reign of King Akhenaten by analyzing Atenism as a unique attempt to establish monotheism within a firmly rooted polytheistic context. The research traces the intellectual and doctrinal backgrounds that paved the way for the emergence of the cult of Aten, while analyzing its theological foundations and manifestations in religious texts and artistic expressions. It also explores the political and social dimensions of this transformation, highlighting the role of royal authority in imposing the new belief system and the reactions of both the priestly establishment and Egyptian society. The study further discusses the problematic relationship between religious monotheism and political centralization, as well as the limits of societal acceptance of this new religious model.
